Food safety – Vigilance is Mandatory

For most food professionals, we know when something is bad.  We date our freezer packages. We check dates on everything with our weekly inventory checks.  We just know when it’s time to throw it out. But some things are beyond our control and we must rely on our suppliers to pull things that are recalled.  But, are you going to let the health of your customers and your reputation hang on the vigilance of a warehouse manager, with thousands of items coming in and out daily, to stay on top of every recall that is happening weekly, and even sometimes daily?

Use the tools that we already have in place.  Get into a habit of checking the food safety government web site at your disposal. The safety net is in place for a reason.  We all need to use it for the safety or everyone, and for the security of our businesses.
